Harvard College Sophomore Addresses "Hookup Culture" for USA Today
Lisa J. Mogilanski '15 shares her opinion on "the alcohol-infused courtship behavior that prevails at college."
Current Harvard College sophomore, Lisa J. Mogilanski '15 has written a very thoughtful piece on "hookup culture" on college campuses for USA Today. As this hot topic continues to be an issue, we thought this was worth sharing with our community, particularly those of you who serve as alumni interviewers.
"Hookup culture seems like a perversion of what human relationships ought to be. Its distinguishing feature is its lack of discretion, except on the dimensions of physical attractiveness and proximity. Its participants seek out anonymity, creating taboos like "dormcest." They implicitly acknowledge that their actions are never really emotionless, at least probably not for both people."
Why I'm uncomfortable with the hookup culture
