HBAS Summer Picnic on Vashon Island
The Seattle Harvard Black Alumni Society invites graduates and their families to a summer get-together on Vashon Island on Saturday, August 26, 2023, 1:00pm-4:00pm PT
Join Harvard Black Alumni Society (Seattle) for a fun-filled day picking blackberries and frolicking on Vashon Island, the long-time home of one of the twentieth century's most celebrated African-American and Harlem Renaissance artists, Jacob Lawrence. After blackberry picking, in the spirit of the period, we will enjoy a bountiful beach picnic while discussing Wallace Thurman’s book, The Blacker the Berry, at Lisabuela Park.
This is a great opportunity to get together with other graduates and their families, enjoy the beautiful outdoors, and have some fun. We'll have all the food and supplies, so just bring your appetites and your summertime camaraderie! Please purchase your book in advance.
Please RSVP by Sunday, August 20, 2023 so that we can get a headcount. We hope to see you there!
