IvyPlus Trails Day Tree Planting hosted by Brown Club of Seattle

Brown Club of Seattle invites all IvyPlus alumni to plant a tree to celebrate the Earth Day in April.

On Celebrate Trails Day, Saturday, April 26, 2025, we’re rallying our amazing volunteers to plant 200 native and climate resilient trees in an area currently devoid of tree cover and overrun with invasive Himalayan blackberry. This 20,000-foot stretch between the East Puyallup Trailhead and McMillin Trailhead desperately needs restoration to provide essential shade, improve wildlife habitat, and enhance overall trail conditions. By replacing invasive species with trees, we’re ensuring a healthier, more sustainable landscape for generations to come.

The 22-mile-long Foothills Trail is a 12-foot wide non-motorized asphalt trail / linear park suitable for bicycles, walking, in-line skates, and wheelchairs. It also has a soft shoulder path for equestrians. (Bring your bikes or horses to the tree planting event if you want.)

All ages are welcome. The Foothills National Recreation Trail sits atop a historic railroad bed and snakes through the river valley southeast of Tacoma.

Are you an enthusiastic volunteer ready to roll up your sleeves and be part of this transformative project? No experience? No problem! We’ll provide hands-on training, tools, and refreshments to fuel your hard work.
