Seattle Opera presents Porgy & Bess
Join the Harvard Club of Seattle for a performance of Gershwin's American operatic masterpiece.
A vibrant mix of humor, romance, action, struggle, and celebration, Gershwin's controversial masterpiece—widely considered the greatest American opera—introduced American musical genres, including jazz and folk, to an art form previously considered exclusively European. Join us on a rousing journey to Catfish Row, a fictitious African-American community in 1930s Charleston, South Carolina, where Porgy and Bess share their story through beloved classics like Summertime and I Got Plenty O' Nuttin'.
